Synergy business model

Synergy

When it comes to making money synergy is commonly used among successful business people. You will find that the most successful business people do not rely on a single business, nor do they rely on a single source of income. If they are in retail they are most likely selling products that complement one another, or if they have more than one service, each of the services complement or help the other. Now I'm not recommending you start multiple businesses at this point, but what I am recommending is that you design whatever business you start to include synergy as part of your business model.
One of the best examples around his Amazon.com. This is a company built on synergy and one in which the majority of the business is based on. Each time Amazon has added a product they have always taken in consideration how the new product incorporates with existing products. Their warehousing and shipping were initially all designed around shipping books. Books were chosen in part because they can be shipped without packing. When Amazon added music to their catalog, there was very little transitioning or adjustment needed for their warehousing equipment.
Another prime example would be insurance. Many insurance companies started out selling life insurance policies and then later added auto and home. Some of these companies even expanded into investment banking and similar products.
The main idea is to keep synergy in mind no matter what you are doing with your business and not just with products or services. Synergy should also be kept in mind when you're designing the organization itself. Making sure that employees, departments and all other aspects of the business are not only working together but complementing and helping one another.
When you look at nature, you will see that this is the one thing that is incorporated into everything that nature has designed. It is a seamless and energy efficient way to do just about everything.
So the next time your manager, boss or corporate CEO asks you how can we improve our company, think about synergy first.

Make money promoting other peoples stuff

If you do not have any artwork or creations of your own you can always sign up as an associate and sell other peoples work.
Such as these ads or links from Zazzle.com which include brand-name artwork such as Disney, DC comics and other well-known artwork.

Let's say you're talking about Harry Potter Store  in your blog and you want to link the words Harry Potter store to a Harry Potter store. Simply follow the instructions that the company offers and copy and paste the HTML into your blog. Making sure your I.D. number is in the code so you get credit for any sales.

Or your talking about aBatman Store  and you want people to know where to find it.
Keep in mind there are many companies out there that offer associate programs, but not all programs are the same.

Avoid companies like Amazon that pay only once for the customer and never for repeat sales. If you advertise for Amazon, the customer may buy thousands of dollars worth of merchandise over his life time but you will only be paid for the first sale only. After that Amazon says that it owns that customer and you never see another dime.
Also avoid companies that steal your copyrights and pay only a one time fee for your artwork. And above all avoid contests and companies that offer prizes for your artwork but only pay if you win. These companies will retain your copyrights even if you don't win. Remember copyrights are for 75 years of your life and 75 years after you die. That's 150 years worth of royalty that you or a family member would have reaped the benefits from. Reader's Digest was notorious for stealing people's work and only paying pennies for stories or articles they later made millions on. In one case the author of a short story was paid $15 for all copyrights to his story. The story was later made into a movie that made a lot of money. The author never saw any of that money because Reader's Digest was buying all rights to the story. Never sell all rights to your artwork or writing. Had the writer sold only first or second rights, Reader's Digest would have had to renegotiate a new contract in order to use the story.

EBay use to be the place to go for auctions but over the years has moved more towards virtual stores. As a result what once was the best place to sell something has become more of a research tool than an actual auction site. People who look to auction an item off often find they are competing with sellers selling at a fixed price in a virtual store. Worse yet, Chinese manufacturers have begun using eBay to sell items direct, try competing with that. Now for somebody looking for items to retail, a lot of times I have found eBay to be cheaper than wholesalers. Unless the item is very unique you may be better off selling your item in the Classified ads. As of late I use eBay to find out what I should be selling an item for and then I go to craigslist to do the actual selling. The owners of eBay have forgotten who and what made them so great. The ooos and ahh's that always seem to catch people's attention are gone. The"did you hear what this sold for on eBay"or"did you hear what someone was selling on eBay?" Are no longer the gossip at water coolers. The corporate bigwigs got greedy and turned it into something that the users never wanted to see. It was an auction site and that's what made it great. You never knew what your next big sell was going to be or for how much,or how little you might pay for an item you just bid on. The CEOs forgot that the excitement of the auction itself is what made eBay great. EBay should be looking in the rearview mirror because sooner or later somebody is going to realize what eBay threw away. If eBay was smart they would start up a new website that was auctions only, or they can sit around and wait for a competitor to beat them to the punch.
